Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church
The church was divinely established when Jesus responded to Peter's answer as they entered the region of Caesarea Philippi, "and I tell you that
you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it" Matthew 16:18. Jesus is the head of the body known as the Church.

In a community, a church stands as a light to constrain men to Christ in order that their soul would be saved. On August 9, 1987 a few individuals met at the home of Rev. J. L. Goff, Sr. to have prayer and worship service. The group continued to meet and after going through the proper procedure, a church was organized. The adopted name chosen for this body of believers was Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Goff, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, saw a need for a church that would dedicate itself totally to Christ's command as recorded in Matthew 28:19-20.

The founding members were Rev. D. R. Wedderburn, Bro. Lonnie L. Johnson, Bro. Curtis Thornton, Sis. Faye Durden, Sis. Hattie Johnson, Sis. Lucille Goff and two children, Johnny L. Goff, Jr. and Kerri D. Goff. Rev. J. L. Goff, Sr., was the organizer and first pastor.

The church continued to meet in the home of Rev. Goff until a small building at 14055 Dublin Street was leased. In 1990 by the grace of God, were able to purchase this location. As we stepped out on faith, the Lord again moved mightily in his people and through their faith blessed this small congregation of less than 40 members and enabled us to construct and occupy in 1999 the sanctuary in which we currently meet.

As we continue in our faith in Jesus Christ, the Greater Friendship family under the direction of Pastor Johnny L. Goff, Sr. is still committed to it's
original theme "WINNING THE LOST AT ANY COST".
